South African singer Tyla has canceled her first tour and Coachella appearance amid health concerns.
The "Water" singer, 22, posted a lengthy statement on Instagram Thursday explaining the cancelation. "As much as this is something I would rather have health with privately … For the past year, I've been silently suffering with an injury that has tragically worsened," she began.
"I've seen doctors and specialists with high hopes but the pain has only become more agonizing as has the severity of the situation," she wrote. "In consulting with medical professionals it's become increasingly clear that continuing any festival or tour dates would jeopardize my long-term health and safety."
Because of that, the singer has to cancel her tour. "I am absolutely heartbroken," she said.
"Words cannot describe my frustration at this pivotal point in my career. So please know that my team and I are working diligently on a spectacular show for you as soon as I am recovered and ready to return safely onstage this summer," the Grammy winner wrote.
Tyla also expressed her gratitude to her fans, dubbed the Tygers, for making her "life-long dream" a reality. "I am so grateful and humbled by this past year and the way it's changed my life. I can never thank you guys enough for all your loving support, all the joy, the laughter and the wins!"

The tour was due to kick off next week with the U.K. and European leg followed by North America and an appearance at the Coachella music festival. It would have commenced on May 28.
Tyla's summer hit "Water" took social media and quickly earned her acclaim, winning her first Grammy in the inaugural best African music performance category over her peers Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Davido and Musa Keys, and Asake & Olamide.
She later released a 5-track self-titled EP in December with Travis Scott hopping on the "Water" remix.
